Outpatient Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a very personal journey. It varies depending on the personalities of the counselor and client, and the particular problems you bring forward. There are many different methods we use to collaboratively identify and explore the concerns that come up in therapy. Psychotherapy is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, what you put into it is what you get out of it with the educated guide (your therapist). Therefore, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for the therapy to be most successful, your work on concerns and therapy goals during and outside our sessions is often advisable. In fact, a lot of the work happens between sessions.
Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. On the other hand, psychotherapy has also been shown to have benefits for people who go through it. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress. However, it is important to understand that there are no guarantees of what you will experience.
Therapy involves a commitment of time, money, and energy, so finding a good therapist fit is important. A strong therapeutic alliance is important for a successful process. We offer a free 15 min consult (phone or video) to make sure it is the best fit.
Insurance
Check each clinician for which insurance they take on the “meet our staff” page. For all new clients, we have a process to verify your individual insurance and then share a good faith estimate of what your expected copay/deductible is before we set up any appointments.
Please note that we do our best to provide the most accurate information and updates available to us in a timely manner but sometimes this information can change after the first few claims are submitted. We will share any changes with you as soon as we can and work with you to address it!
